Hello Drummers,

In our new location, we are having a great time, with a lot of special drummers at this tremendously successful Drum Circle.

In the spirit of building community we all share a little about ourselves with the group before we begin. This way everybody gets to know one another and help foster better camaraderie among the group.

We welcome new players with open arms, because everyone has to start somewhere, why not here.

The members have played djembes, congas, doumbek, frame drums, bongos, and a lot more. And, every once in a while, members have been inspired to get up and dance and even sing.

Please show up if you are going and if your plans change make sure you change them at the website, because everyone else is counting on you to be there with your smiling faces and your special rhythm spirit that you bring to the group.

They have a large Practice room with chairs in the back of the store for us to use. We are limiting the participants to 20 because of space limitations.

What a wonderful place to have a drum circle. Can anyone feel more priviledged and special than being able to drum at Sam Ash's Music Store. I certainly hope that Sam can give us our play time again. Drumming is a type of meditation for me, it helps to make me feel "in the now". I am not thinking about the past or the future, I am in the present moment, and it also gives me a feeling of accomplishment, and challenges my courage. I have never played a musical instrument in my entire life, and this has opened up a whole new experience. I like rhythm and music. I noticed that some customers in Sam Ash's were moving to the music and enjoying our playing. This made me feel even better and I think that Sam Ash should use our group as a promotional tool to attract visitors to the store, if used correctly in advertising or public relations campaign.

It's been awhile since i've been a part of a drum circle. I really missed that part of my life. Todays drum circle was so awesome! Even though i had just gotten off from work at 6am this morning, the circle seemed to rejuvenate me. Lots of great drummers! Everyone was really friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to the next meetup! Thanks for creating this wonderful meetup Arthur. :)

Welcome Richmond Rhythm Drummers

This is part of the www.Virginia-World-Rhythms-Drum-Circle.com group. This MeetUp will focus mainly in the area of Richmond VA but not limit it possibilities to enjoy drum circles in other parts of the state.

What's our group about?

Basically, it's playing and hand drumming. It's about meeting other like-minded people and making music. It's about sharing your inner Rhythm Spirit with everyone. We accept one and all--if you've never played before, if you've been playing for years, if you are a dancer and always wanted to try drumming, it's completely open. You can try a few different kinds of drums and shakers and bells. It's also about making new friends and creating a new family of friends. We are family friendly! Bring the kids along; hey, bring the parents along too. All will have a good time--I promise

My name is Arthur and I am the Drum Circle Facilitator/Organizer Hand Drum Instructor for this group. I'm organizing drum circles from Richmond VA all the way to Virginia Beach. This website is for players in the Richmond VA area. We meet at least once a month at the Carillon near Byrd Park during the summer, and for the winter months we are changing to different indoor venues. Sometimes we attend special events for charity and good causes like drumming with the physically handicap and the intellectually challenge or Drumming for the Cure for Cancer and Peace Movements.

Drum Circle

To make beautiful music together, all we have to do is bring to the circle whatever rhythmical expertise we have to offer, along with the excitement of sharing it with other people. The quality of the music produced in an event like this is not based on the rhythmical expertise of the players, but on the quality of their relationship with the other people in the circle. The result is those magical musical moments where one powerful voice is created out of the many. In those moments, the players stop worrying about keeping time because time, as they know it, has stopped. In it's place is a living breathing entity, expressing timeless joy, passion and release through the power of rhythm. That is the beauty of a community drum circle.
