DRUMSTRONG 2012 :: MAY 19& 20

I went to this Last year and it was incredible. What could be better than drumming for the cure for cancer and doing it for 30 hrs. You don't have to drum all the time there is lots to do, see, and drums to buy. There is ongoing musical entertainment featuring top bands, singer and performers during the drumming at another stage. They have other areas with yoga, dancing, other family friendly things to do and more. You could leave and go site seeing if you want or never leave.

I drove in my car from Newport News at 7: AM on Sat. and got there by noon. Just as it started, I pitched my tent about 500 feet from the drumming area. Left on Sunday by 5: PM was home by 10: pm. Everyone could do this in the weekend and not have to take a day off from work to do so. You can camp out on the site or stay at a hotel.

If you have a tent or a trailer your only cost to do this is food, gas, $30 entrance fee which includes free camping. No tent or trailer then stay at one of the hotel/motels.

Everyone should make the effort to go to this and I would love for us to go as a group and represent the state of VA and the VA World Rhythms Drum Circle/Richmond Rhythms Drum Circle/Virginia Beach Drum Circle.

If we can get a least 10 members to go, we can start talking about joining as a team to get the reduced fee and work out car pooling and hotel/campsite sharing. So lets talk about this on our discussion page to get the ball rolling.

At the DRUMSTRONG Web Site I set us up as a Team under the: "VirginiaWorldRhythmsDrumCircle". So when you register on their site make sure you register under team and not individual to get the $20 price. It will ask you to look up your team in a drop down box. We will be there. Registration is $30. For individuals 12 and over, $50. for families with children under 12, and special discounts for Teams. Registration is good for both days of the event. Gates open @ 10:00 am Saturday (come early to set up camp, have some lunch, loosen up...). Activities start @ noon.

Can I camp at DRUMSTRONG? ::

YES! Register (if you haven't already pre-registered online), park, and then carry your gear to campsites in the upper fields. If you need assistance moving stuff ask for assistance @ Registration. No vehicles in camping area. Don't pitch a tent on fire ant hills = no fun!

PLEASE KEEP THE SITE CLEAN. Throw away ALL trash; RECYCLE what you can. Camp fires & fireworks are prohibited (cook stoves OK).

DrumSTRONG™ is held on private property (and a working horse farm). PLEASE respect the land and keep your site clean! Pick up trash and deposit in receptacles.

:: Are there hotels nearby? ::

There are several accommodation about 12 miles away called Cane Coptions of varying degrees of luxury in the area and but best yet you can camp right at the drum site, NC, if you come to town early.
